High Powered Offense

One of the things that Hornacek said he would bring to the Knicks is a faster pace. Faster pace equals easier scoring opportunities, which results in more points scored. In the preseason Hornacek stuck to his word, as the Knicks offense looked good.

In six games, the Knicks averaged 108.8 points per game. They scored at least 100 points in five of six games, as the offense clicked more often than not no matter who was on the court. Overall, the Knicks shot 46.5 percent from the field. They made at least 45 percent, which was right in the middle of the NBA last season, in four out of six games.

They were strong from behind the arc as well, making 35.9 percent of their shots from deep. They were over 40 percent in three of the games, but under 30 percent in two of them, so getting consistency from deep during the regular season will be key.

Carmelo Anthony led the way, averaging 16.2 points per game in the five games he appeared in. He looks very comfortable in Hornacek’s offense. He shot 44.8 percent overall from the field and 52.6 percent from deep.
