New York Giants: Week 7 NFC East Breakdown
Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins have quietly racked up four consecutive wins, including two victories within the division. Even without their leading receiver heading into Week 6, tight end Jordan Reed, Washington looked sharp on offense.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins resembles a decent franchise quarterback, who does enough to move the ball downfield with a plethora of skilled assets at his disposal. Running back Matt Jones registered two 100-plus yard performances within the last three weeks.
The Redskins offense won’t dominate games, but they’re putting together enough points to close out contests. Currently, Washington ranks No. 5 in yards accumulated.
Head coach Jay Gruden expects his first-round pick to miss more time and potentially return after the team’s Week 9 bye, per Washington Post reporter Liz Clarke.
Josh Norman still ranks as a top-12 cornerback in the league, per Pro Football Focus. He likely relishes in seeing his former team, the Carolina Panthers, struggle to cover wide receivers on a regular basis.
The Redskins defense doesn’t show dominance. However, the unit held Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz to his fewest yards in a single game (179) and shut out the passing offense.
The Redskins go on the road to play a tough Detroit Lions team in the first of back-to-back away games.
Last Game: 10/16 Eagles 27-20 (Win)
Next Game: 10/23 at Detroit
