Madison Bumgarner

When the bright lights of the postseason come on, Madison Bumgarner takes things to another level. Bumgarner is already one of the top pitchers in the major leagues, but once the playoffs roll around he becomes superhuman.

Just how dominant is Bumgarner? He owns the best road ERA in postseason history by a pitcher with at least 25 innings pitched with a 0.60. He has made seven appearances on the road for the Giants, and they are 7-0 in those games.

The last time we saw Bumgarner in the postseason he was picking apart the Royals en route to a World Series title. Bumgarner made three appearances, two starts, against the Royals, throwing 21 innings and allowing one run. He threw five innings of relief in the deciding game three days after throwing a complete game shutout.

The Royals were not the only ones who couldn’t figure out Bumgarner that postseason. In seven appearances, six starts, Bumgarner fired 52 ⅔ innings, allowing only seven runs, six earned; that equates to an ERA of 1.02.

That is the buzzsaw the Mets are dealing with tonight, as Bumgarner looks to make the Mets his latest postseason causality.
