– Tough day for Forte

Running back Matt Forte has been great for the Jets this season, but he was unable to perform in the difficult matchup on Sunday. The Seahawks have one of the best run defenses in the league, and they really did a great job shutting down Forte.

In the loss, Forte totaled 27 rushing yards on 14 carries, and his longest run was just five yards. The Seahawks also did a great job containing him in the passing game, as he totaled just 16 receiving yards.

After two big games to start the season, Forte has been held in check in the Jets’ two most recent losses. The Jets clearly need Forte to be exceptional with how poor Fitzpatrick has played in the last two games.

In the two upcoming games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals, the Jets are going to need to find a way to get Forte going. The less than two yards per carry average against the Seahawks is going to result in losses 99% of the time for the Jets. A one-dimensional passing attack is not going to get wins for the Jets with Fitzpatrick as the quarterback.
