Sterling Shepard Eclipses 100 Receiving Yards

Rookie wideout Sterling Shepard logged his first 100-yard game against the Saints last week. Cowboys wideout Cole Beasley tallied five catches for 75 yards on several underneath patterns out of slot against the Redskins defense.

Typically, Shepard lines up in the slot, but he’s a better route-runner than Beasley and shows big-play capabilities going downfield. The Redskins may experience issues covering him after a free release off the line of scrimmage.

Due to Norman’s attention to Beckham, the field should open for Shepard and Victor Cruz. One of the two receivers should see one-on-one opportunities in coverage.

Right now, Shepard leads the team in receiving yards, and the trend should continue through Week 3.

The second-round pick will find holes within the Redskins secondary and take another step in an impressive three-game stretch to start his professional career. He’ll likely draw matchups with cornerbacks Bashaud Breeland and Dashaun Phillips on the inside.
