Jordan Reed

The Giants defense has looked much improved through two games, but is not a finished product. One area that they still need to improve upon is their defense in the middle of the field, specifically in the slot and against the tight end. That makes Jordan Reed a player to watch, as he is one of the best tight ends in the NFL.

While Reed has not yet found paydirt, the workload is there as he has been targeted 17 times in two games. He has turned that into 12 receptions for 134 yards and looks poised to finally break out. Could that happen against the Giants?

Reed caused problems for the Giants last season, being targeted nine times in both games, finishing with 14 receptions for 194 yards. The Giants were able to keep him out of the endzone, but the yardage is something they would like to bring down.

Defending Reed will not be an easy task, as he presents the same problems Jason Witten did in Week 1. He is a reliable target for his quarterback as a safety valve, but can also beat the Giants up the seam with his athleticism.

This is a game we could see Darian Thompson playing more coverage or the Giants bringing more defensive backs on the field. Depending on where Reed lines up, we could see anyone from Keenan Robinson to Janoris Jenkins lining up against him.

The Redskins will definitely move him around the formation to try and find soft spots in the Giants defense. It will be up to Steve Spagnuolo to limit those soft spots and try to slow down Reed.
