All eyes will be on Norman this week. He has been called out mercilessly through two weeks as the Redskins defensive scheme has him playing on one side of the field, not following around the other team’s top receiver. It has caused a stir, as many people, including some Giants such as Victor Cruz, have commented about it.

Norman is vocal and has said he does what the coaches tell him to do. After two weeks of being criticized, the coaching staff has decided that it is time that Norman shadows their opponent’s best receiver. That means we should see a lot of lot Norman vs. Beckham Jr. on the outside.

Norman will shadow Beckham Jr. as long as he is playing on the perimeter, as he will follow him around outside the numbers. If Beckham Jr. plays the slot, it will no longer be Norman’s responsibility as he plays solely on the outside.

Norman has a lot to prove after being handed a massive contract by the Redskins after the Carolina Panthers essentially set him loose this offseason after rescinding the franchise tag. He has a chance to do it against Beckham Jr., but it is likely he will be facing off against other members of the Giants’ receiving corps as well.

The Giants basically play a base set of three wide receivers, meaning Beckham Jr. could find himself in the slot often. Unlike last season when Norman faced off with the Giants, Beckham Jr. has some legitimate help this time in Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz. Shadowing Beckham Jr. isn’t as big a thing as some people are making it out to be, as he will be tested throughout the afternoon no matter who is lining up on the outside.

He will be under the spotlight and better produce or those critics will only get louder.
