Kirk Cousins

The Redskins were skeptical about giving Cousins a big money, long-term contract this offseason. He had a great 2015 season, but they wanted to see more. As a result, Cousins signed the one-year franchise tender. So far, the Redskins look like they made the right decision.

Cousins has struggled through two games, throwing three interceptions compared to one touchdown. Cousins has struggled mightily in the red zone, as the precision and accuracy he showed in 2015 has yet to shine through in 2016. He committed a brutal turnover last week against the Cowboys, having a big hand in the Redskins losing at home to their division rival.

Eyes will be on Cousins again, and rightfully so. Quarterbacks sometimes get too much of the blame, but Cousins needs to improve if the Redskins are to avoid digging themselves a deeper hole.

It will not be an easy task for Cousins to get going against the Giants, as he has struggled against them in his career. In four starts against the Giants, he has thrown three touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has completed only 55 percent of his passes as the Giants have been able to corral Cousins.

The early results for the Giants’ revamped defense have been spectacular. They will look to keep that going against Cousins, who needs a good game as much as anyone in Week 3.
