Pass Defense Grade: B+

The Giants spent a lot of resources to upgrade their pass defense and so far the moves have paid off. After being torched by Drew Brees last season to the tune of 505 yards and seven touchdowns, the Giants pass defense bounced back today thanks in part to their new players.

Brees had a decent game this time around, completing 29-of-44 passes for 263 yards and one touchdown. The Giants were able to get some pressure on Brees, as Landon Collins and Leon Hall both hit home on blitzes for sacks. They had six quarterback hits on the afternoon, as Johnathan Hankins led the way with two.

The Giants were able to limit the big plays of the Saints, as their longest pass play of the afternoon was only 23 yards. The coverage in the middle of the field was improved over Week 1 as well. Colby Fleener had only two receptions for 29 yards as Jason Witten hurt the Giants in their previous game.

The only breakdown they truly had was when Willie Snead caught the touchdown from Brees on a well-placed pass. They compiled seven passes defended, as Janoris Jenkins had two. Through two games the Giants pass defense has been above average, a huge improvement over last season.
