Week 16: At New England Patriots

With the division title still likely in play during Week 16, the Patriots must put a stamp on their season to claim their eighth consecutive AFC East division title. New York doesn’t have the offensive firepower to topple New England on their turf.

Facing their seventh loss, the Jets put up a valiant effort, but the Patriots seal a victory with a field goal in overtime to clinch the division.

Prediction: Loss

Score: Jets 21, Patriots 24 (OT)

Record: 8-7

Week 17: Vs. Buffalo

In the season finale, the Jets sweep the season series with the Bills, which puts the team in play for an AFC wild-card spot.

Unlike last year, Fitzpatrick finishes the season on a strong note with fewer boneheaded miscues against a lesser team. The Jets take an easy victory at home and wait on the results between the Broncos and Raiders to decide which team takes the final playoff spot in the AFC.

Prediction: Win

Score: Jets 28, Bills 17

Record: 9-7
