New York Giants: 5 Players To Watch vs. New York Jets
Trevin Wade
The Giants were very busy in the defensive backfield during the offseason. They spent big money on Janoris Jenkins to replace Prince Amukamara. Their first round pick, 10th overall, was used on cornerback Eli Apple. Just a couple of weeks ago, they signed veteran Leon Hall to help in the slot and at safety.
With Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie already in the fold, the Giants have a deep, talented group of corners on the roster. That leaves little opportunity for someone to crack the rotation and 53-man roster. But, someone to keep an eye on is Trevin Wade.
Wade appeared in all 16 games for the Giants last season, making three starts. He has lost his spot with the first-team defense but has been running with the second team. Where he could really make an impact is on special teams, where he has been filling in as a gunner with Dwayne Harris.
If Wade can show versatility and become a player on special teams, it will greatly increase his chances of making the roster. Wade would love to contribute on defense, but special teams look like his best chance of getting onto the field for the time being. Will he make the most of that chance, or struggle after being demoted from the first team defense?
