Victor Cruz

Victor Cruz hasn’t been on an NFL field for a game in 658 days. That streak looks like it will come to an end tonight, as Cruz is poised to take the field for his teammates since Week 6 in 2014. On that day Cruz tore his patellar tendon, and he has battled numerous injuries since.

Cruz injured his calf last summer and was never able to recover, missing the entire 2015 season. He has gone through tenuous rehab since and is finally able to take the field once again. What Cruz will we see once he takes the field? That is anyone’s guess.

The Giants will undoubtedly ease Cruz into action, as they do not want him to suffer any setbacks. Cruz cannot afford to miss any more time, or else he could face being cut from the team. While this is only a preseason game, it will have a different feel for Cruz given the circumstances surrounding the situation.

“I’m ready,” Cruz said. “Obviously, it has been a long time coming, but I had a good week of practice. Everything feels great, so I’m just excited to put it out there on the game field … for the first time in a long time.”

It will be a sight for sore eyes to see Cruz on the field and he will be someone to keep an eye on whenever he is playing.
