New York Giants: 5 Players To Watch vs. Buffalo Bills
Owa Odighizuwa
The Giants greatly improved their defensive line during free agency. They made a huge splash bringing in Olivier Vernon and Damon Harrison and re-signing Jason Pierre-Paul. Along with Johnathan Hankins, the Giants now have one of the strongest defensive line units in the NFL.
For the group to be truly successful, they will have to have some solid backups as well. Depth has been an issue recently for the Giants along the defensive line, but they are hoping to have alleviated that problem with recent draft picks.
One player that will be relied upon for depth is Owa Odighizuwa. Odighizuwa was a third round pick for the Giants in 2015, but his rookie season was hampered by injuries. The Giants are hoping he can contribute more this season and like what they have seen thus far.
Odighizuwa has been someone that has stood out during practices and carried it over to the preseason. Against the Dolphins Odighizuwa constantly caused disruption. He tallied three tackles, two sacks, and three quarterback hits.
The Giants are hoping that production carries over to the regular season. He could factor into the defensive line rotation as a pass rushing specialist in sub packages, especially if he continues performing as he has thus far this offseason.
