New York Giants: 5 Players To Watch vs. Buffalo Bills
Ryan Nassib
There is zero chance that Nassib overtakes Eli Manning for the starting quarterback job. But Nassib is entering the final year of his contract, making this preseason important. He could parlay it into a better opportunity for a starting job next season, or become a trade asset for the Giants to use.
After one game in the preseason, Nassib has done nothing to improve his stock. Nassib struggled mightily against the Dolphins, completing 7-of-15 passes for 75 yards. He also threw two interceptions and absorbed four sacks.
He led the team on a nine play, 74-yard drive the first drive but that is where the success ended. The Giants managed only a field goal the rest of the game, which was set up by a Jonathan Casillas interception.
It was a rough night for Nassib, who had previously experienced success in the preseason. He had only one turnover in the previous three preseasons, throwing seven touchdowns with zero interceptions; he had three against the Dolphins, as he lost one of his three fumbles in addition to the interceptions.
Nassib won’t start against the Bills, as Eli Manning is going to make his preseason debut. Maybe that will help get him on track, as he started hot against the Dolphins replacing Manning but faded as the game went on.
