Geremy Davis

While Sterling Shepard has gotten a ton of recognition, and rightfully so, the true beneficiary of Cruz’s injury is Geremy Davis. Shepard was essentially guaranteed a top-three spot as a second round pick and has proven that. Davis, who is a sixth-round pick from 2015, is quickly climbing the depth chart.

Davis was a standout earlier in the offseason as someone that could supplant Cruz if he wasn’t healthy. Cruz is not healthy, and the opportunity is there for Davis to take advantage.

Last week against the Dolphins Davis was the only player with multiple receptions on the team; he had two catches for 24 yards. While not a great showing, he was not given much help by the quarterback play.

With Cruz expected to be sidelined again, Davis could find himself in the No.3 role behind Shepard and Odell Beckham Jr. That is a great opportunity for him, as he needs to hold off Dwayne Harris, Roger Lewis, and Myles White.

But there is only so much Davis can do without the ball, which takes us to the next player to watch for.
