No. 28: Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings hired former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger, but the front office still doesn’t know whether they’re coming or going. Until the Kings establish a direction for their basketball team, it’ll remain in disarray.
The Kings have a strong frontcourt with DeMarcus Cousins and Willie Cauley-Stein at the 4- and 5-spots. However, it seems the team will deal forward Rudy Gay, guard Ben McLemore and center Kosta Koufos in a trade, per ESPN’s Marc Stein. You can place the under construction sign on the logo.
No. 27: Los Angeles Lakers
It sounds crazy, but the Los Angeles Lakers will improve dramatically without Kobe Bryant. His farewell tour ended with a bang. Now, the team can return to playing team basketball and developing their young talent. Head coach Luke Walton’s first coaching experience will come with struggles. The starting five probably ranks as one of the youngest in the league.
Expect a big year for guards D’Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson. Walton will allow the inexperienced talent to play freely and learn from their mistakes. The Lakers will draw interest with Brandon Ingram joining a young group, but they’re not winning a lot of games.
