New York Knicks: NBA Offseason Power Rankings
Maybe you didn’t hear about this team because they’re located in the northwestern part of the country, but the Portland Trail Blazers have a viable playoff contending roster.
During the offseason, the front office acquired Evan Turner, who brings a do-it-all skill set to the roster. In a starting position, his box score statistics will compare to the intangibles in his play style. As a perimeter defender, he holds opponents below their average three-point percentages, per NBA.com.
Despite non-descript players at the 4- and 5-spots, the Blazers have depth, defensive presence and potential at both positions. The backcourt more than compensates for the scoring lapses near the rim. Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum list as one of the most dynamic backcourt duos.
After two years in a backup role, McCollum put together a breakout season in his third campaign. As expected, he captured the Most Improve Player Award. Lillard orchestrated the offense, but McCollum also averaged 4.3 assists per game.
In a group competing against upstart teams such as the Nuggets and Timberwolves, the Blazers will claim the Northwest Division title.
