No. 10: Memphis Grizzlies

As a fundamentally sound basketball team, the Memphis Grizzlies don’t draw outsiders to the television. Nonetheless, they’ve clinched a playoff berth for six consecutive seasons.

The front office hired a first-time head coach in David Fizdale, but the roster remains constant with one much-needed asset, Chandler Parsons.

On any other team, Parsons doesn’t move the needle, but the Grizzlies finally acquired someone who can knock down three-pointers consistently and fill the sharpshooter role within the offense.

No. 9: Boston Celtics

Head coach Brad Stevens made the most out of an average roster in the previous season. The Boston Celtics have improved every year under his tutelage, and the trend should continue in the upcoming season.

The front office added coveted free agent Al Horford, who adds scoring to the frontcourt and resistance around the rim. Team president Danny Ainge may pull off a deal to push the Celtics after the All-Star break, but as constructed, they’re the No. 5 seed in the East.
