Wednesday, November 9th vs. Brooklyn Nets

The Nets and Knicks haven’t had the rivalry that many expected when the Nets moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn. The two teams just haven’t been that great since the move, and a rivalry really cannot brew until teams face off in the postseason.

That will more than likely not happen again this season, as the Nets are in clear rebuilding mode. But, it is still worth a watch when the two teams face off, as there is somewhat of a rivalry between the fans of the two teams about which team owns the city (it’s the Knicks by the way).

But, while the Nets will not be very good this season, the matchup will have some added intrigue. The Nets biggest signing of the offseason was Jeremy Lin, someone the Knicks are familiar with from his Linsanity days. That will make for a solid storyline, as well as the Nets also having a new head coach, Kenny Atkinson.

Atkinson was a part of the Knicks coaching staff from 2008-2012 and had a huge hand in helping Lin during his stint with the Knicks. This will be the first time that Atkinson and Hornacek face off as head coaches, as both will have different agendas this season. But, if things go as planned for both franchises, it will be the first of many matchups between the two new head men in New York.
