The New York Yankees have officially announced that Gary Sanchez will be called up. Is he going to shine in the majors?

After making some trades before the trade deadline, the New York Yankees are going into a bit of a rebuild with their young talent. General manager Brian Cashman did an excellent job adding to the Yankees’ farm system, which already had some promising talent. After trading Carlos Beltran, the Yankees have some room to call up one of their hitters, and they will be bringing up catcher Gary Sanchez.

“It took them long enough,” RailRiders right fielder Aaron Judge and fellow top prospect Aaron Judge said with a smile to Randy Miller of NJ.com. “(Sanchez) came down here doing his thing. It’s been fun to have him on this team, watching him keep swinging it and kind of be a force behind the plate as well.”

Sanchez has done well in the minors for the Yankees, and it will be his number that is going to be called first to make a name for himself in the majors.

“I’m hoping that this time, I’ll get more playing time,” Sanchez said to Miller. “I’m coming in with the attitude that I’ll be ready no matter what, but I’m hoping that this will be the chance to prove that I’m ready to play in the big leagues.”

Playing time shouldn’t be too much of an issue for Sanchez with the Yankees not using Alex Rodriguez as the designated hitter, and that Sanchez can also play catcher. Sanchez already made his debut for the Yankees this season in a quick one-game stint in the majors, but he did learn some things.

More from New York Yankees

“I was too anxious,” Sanchez said to Miller. “I wanted to impress the Yankees and show that I was ready to play in the big leagues. That’s why I put pressure on myself. “I learned a lot from the older guys, how they went about their business. What I really learned was to relax and take one day at a time and just do whatever I can to be successful on the field.”

Sanchez’s manager Al Pedrique believes that Sanchez is ready to make an impact for the Yankees in the big leagues as he has improved a lot on both offense and defense this season.

“Offensively, he’s been swinging the bat well, Pedrique said to Miller. “Defensively, he has been doing so much better behind the plate, calling the game, receiving, blocking.” “Overall, I think Sanchez is more ready,” Pedrique said. “As a hitter, I think he’s ahead of Judge right know Judge is getting close. Too bad he got hurt. He was getting close to where Sanchez is.”

If Sanchez is able to impress as a catcher in the big leagues, that will make Brian McCann even more expendable, as there were rumblings about him possibly being one of the players that the Yankees were looking to trade. The Yankees might not win a lot of games in the second half of the season, but it will be entertaining to watch young players like Sanchez develop in the majors.
