New York Giants: 5 Training Camp Storylines
Ben McAdoo Speaks on Victor Cruz’s Workload
The Giants’ coaching staff will abbreviate wideout Victor Cruz’s practices on certain days to ensure preservation for the season. When asked about the wideout’s first light workload, McAdoo revealed part of the plan to keep the receiver on track for the regular-season:
"We dialed back his load today. He did work. He did finish practice. He got the numbers of reps we were looking for today. That’s part of his structure."
The coaching staff will likely keep Cruz on a tight rep count through the offseason as a precaution. He’ll participate in practices but not completely on a full go through all the sessions.
In his press conference with the media, Shepard said he’s played on the outside in starting sets and inside with Cruz on the field.
The coaching staff hasn’t publicly divulged their expectations for Cruz, but Sterling should see more targets than the veteran as a healthy body ready to take on the rigors of a 60-minute football game.
