New York Knicks: Eastern Conference Playoff Projections
Cleveland Cavaliers: No. 1 (Central Division Champions)
Here’s a mind-blowing factoid.
LeBron James’ teams have claimed the No. 1 seed in the East for the past eight seasons, which dates back to his first stint in Cleveland and the Miami Heat.
With James leading the way, the Cavaliers will remain at the top of the food chain in the East. Point guard Kyrie Irving and forward Kevin Love seem firmly in place to complete the team’s nucleus. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Cleveland came to terms on a five-year extension with head coach Tyronn Lue.
James hasn’t officially re-signed with the team, but he’s vocal about his plans to stay in Cleveland, per ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst.
For the immediate future, the Cavaliers have their foundation intact and ready to run at a few more NBA titles. If guard J.R. Smith and forward Tristan Thompson continue to contribute as X-Factors off the bench, the Cavaliers will hoist another Larry O’Brien Trophy in the coming years.
