Latest New York Yankees rumors gives a little insight into who Brian Cashman would like to acquire for the team, as he is very high on the Chicago Cubs’ Kyle Schwarber.

New York Yankees rumors will be ramping up in the coming days leading up to the MLB Trade Deadline. The Yankees have a big say in how the trade market will play out, as they possess some of the biggest trade pieces that could be available prior to the August 1st non-waiver trade deadline.

Many teams are interested in the Yankees’ bullpen arms, namely Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman. Both are top flight, late inning arms that the Yankees could move in the right deal. It would be smart for the Yankees to part with Chapman, as he is an impending free agent after the season.

It would make sense for the Yankees to move him for something now, instead of losing him for nothing during the offseason. There are a number of teams that would like to acquire Chapman, with the Cleveland Indians and Washington Nationals being two potential landing spots.

The market for Miller is a little more cloudy though. He is signed for another two seasons at a very team friendly rate, and is flexible in the bullpen. He has succeeded as either the closer or the setup man for the Yankees the past season and a half, raking up 43 saves and 16 holds thus far in his Yankees career.

This season he also has an impressive 1.31 ERA and 0.73 WHIP, so he is not someone that the Yankees would just give away. They have given Miller reassurance that he would not be traded unless they are blown away for an offer.

With Chapman also available, teams may be inclined to give the Yankees a big offer for Miller if they miss out on the hard throwing Cuban. One of the teams that have shown a lot of interest in acquiring Miller is the Chicago Cubs.

There has been a lot of talk about what it would take for the Cubs to pry Miller away from New York. They have said that players such as Kyle Schwarber are off limits, but if he was put on the table they may be able to swing a deal for Miller with the Yankees.

Why would the Yankees potentially move Miller in a deal that has Schwarber as the centerpiece? Because general manager Brian Cashman reportedly very high on the young Cubs slugger.

According to a source close to the situation, Cashman believes that Schwarber could be a 50 home run threat at Yankee Stadium with their short porch in right field. Schwarber has legitimate power no matter the stadium that he is playing in, but he could abuse right field in Yankee Stadium with his powerful left-handed swing.

The Cubs have not missed a beat with Schwarber sidelined, so it would make sense for the Yankees to at least ask about his availability. They should not trade Miller away unless they get exactly what they are looking for, and from the Cubs it seems like that would be the power-hitting Schwarber.
