One of the bright spots at the end of the season and in the playoffs for the Islanders was the emergence of defenseman Ryan Pulock. After being drafted with the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, Pulock made his debut for the Islanders last season when injuries began to mount toward the end of the season.

Pulock has been a prized prospect of the Islanders since being drafted, and he certainly looks like he will be able to live up to those expectations. In 15 regular season games, Pulock totaled two goals and two assists with a +5 rating.

In the postseason, Pulock really began to shine despite missing a few games due to injuries. In the playoffs, Pulock totaled one goal and two assists in six games. Pulock was given the responsibility of playing on the point on the first power-play unit, and he was a noticeable part of a power play unit that has really looked poor at times.

Pulock should have a steady role on the Islanders this coming season, and could find himself on the first power-play unit to start the season after his good audition in the playoffs last year. With a talented defensive unit that has Johnny Boychuk, Nick Leddy, and Travis Hamonic; don’t forget about Pulock next season.
