In a talented rotation full of young stars, one is beginning to emerge as the best of the bunch. One of the reasons for the Mets’ surge to the postseason last season was the promotion of Noah Syndergaard to the majors. After the strong season in 2015, Syndergaard has been even better in the first half of 2016.

This season, Syndergaard has totaled a 9-4 record, 2.56 ERA, and 128 strikeouts. Syndergaard leads the Mets’ starting rotation in wins, ERA, and strikeouts, as the young Texan was named to his first All-Star team this season. Unfortunately, Syndergaard wasn’t able to make an appearance in the All-Star Game, as he suffered some arm fatigue in his final start of the first half against the Washington Nationals.

In addition to the arm fatigue, Syndergaard also has bone spurs in his right elbow. Despite a few hiccups with his arm, Syndergaard is well-deserving of being called the Cy Young of the Mets in the first half of the season.

Hopefully, Syndergaard is able to start the second half without any issues in his elbow, as the Mets will be relying on their flamethrower to help lead the rotation in the second half.
