Devin Booker Surprises

People will see the title and get excited that the Knicks acquired the young shooting guard, but this Devin Booker couldn’t be further from a three-point shooter. This Booker, the brother to Brooklyn Nets’ Trevor Booker, is a banger and someone that is hard to miss on the court.

With the trade of Lopez to the Bulls, a minutes opened up in the front court. A lot of them should be taken by Noah and Hernangomez, but the Knicks will have to find someone to soak up minutes at power forward behind Kristaps Porzingis; could Booker be that player?

In addition to Noah and Hernangomez, the Knicks also signed Marshall Plumlee, so there is a lot of bodies right now at center. But, Booker profiles more of a banger at power forward, someone that could fit next to Porzingis with the second unit as he does the dirty work inside while the center spaces things out.

Like his teammates, Booker took off the final three games of the Summer League as Randle really get things set. Booker averaged 11.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game the final three games, eight assists, five steals and two blocks.

Last season in Europe he averaged an impressive 15.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, which is very impressive numbers to put up overseas. Booker is looking to earn a chance in the NBA, and the Knicks could have an opening in their front court.

Booker has played the last three seasons overseas, so it unclear right now if he would take a spot with a D-League team. That is probably how he would stick with the Knicks, as they will more than likely fill out the end of their bench with some veteran players, but Booker is someone to definitely keep an eye on.
