New York Knicks: 6 Takeaways From Orlando Summer League
Chasson Randle Can Play
A big reason for the Knicks turnaround during Summer League was because of Randle. Randle missed the first two games of the summer, and the Knicks would go on to put on ugly performances, scoring 49 and 48 points respectively, losing by 32 and 26 points.
But, once Randle returned to the lineup things began clicking. Randle took over as at the point guard position and the Knicks offense took off. In three games with Randle running the show, the Knicks scored 92, 90 and 106 points, winning two of the three games.
Randle stuffed the stat sheet, leading the team with 18.3 points and five assists per game. He also added 4.3 rebounds, three steals and 0.7 blocks per game. Out of players that appeared in multiple games, he finished second in the in points and assists per game, and third in steals. That was enough for him to be an honorable mention for the All-Summer League team.
Randle was also one of the most efficient players offensively in Orlando, tying Josh Richardson and finishing above Cameron Payne, two players that played important minutes in the NBA Playoffs this past season as rookies.
Randle was one the Knicks best player in Summer League and one of the best players overall there. He should receive an invite to training camp and has a legitimate chance to make the team’s final roster. He could be the next Langston Galloway, a combo guard that stuffs the stat sheet and is capable of running the offense in a pinch.
