New York Mets news was positive for Noah Syndergaard, as he is dealing with arm fatigue and won’t have to undergo an MRI.

New York Mets news has not been positive recently in regards to their starting pitching. Zack Wheeler has suffered setbacks in his return from Tommy John surgery, as he is not expected to return to the mound now until August 1st the earliest. At least he looks like he will return, as Matt Harvey has decided to undergo season ending surgery on his ailing right shoulder.

But, the Mets finally received some positive news regarding one of their starting pitchers, as it looks like Noah Syndergaard has avoided any problems with his arm. Syndergaard has been battling bone spurs recently, something he said that he would work through this season.

His bone spurs aren’t as severe as Steven Matz‘s, but anytime any of the Mets’ pitchers are forced from a game with arm trouble people will worry. That is what happened Friday night, when Syndergaard was forced from his start against the Washington Nationals.

He was forced from the game with what the team is calling arm fatigue, but anytime the arm or shoulder is involved people will get worried. But, it seems that Syndergaard has avoided anything major, as he will not even have to undergo an MRI.

According to manager Terry Collins, there is currently no plan for Syndergaard to undergo any further test. ESPN New York’s Adam Rubin was the first to report the news.

This is a relief for the Mets and Syndergaard, as the starting pitching, which was a strength heading into the season, has been hit hard recently. No one would have ever imagined that the Mets would have to look into getting starting pitching help as the MLB Trade Deadline approaches, but that is where we currently stand with the Mets.

With Harvey already out and Wheeler’s return being delayed, the Mets will go with Logan Verrett in the rotation for the time being.

After being relieved early, Syndergaard will not be pitching in the MLB All-Star game early next week. Syndergaard was in the running to start the game for the National League, but he will not even be participating now.

He will make the trip to San Diego though, and plans to play some catch while there Following that, Syndergaard will have a bullpen session in Philadelphia, and the Mets will take it from there.

They are hoping that a little rest will do the trick, as losing Syndergaard would be a loss the Mets would find extremely difficult to overcome. He has cemented himself as the ace of the staff, and leads the team in victories (nine), strikeouts (128) and ERA (2.48) on the season. Syndergaard is eighth in the major leagues in wins and strikeouts, and tied for the sixth highest win total.
