New York Knicks: 5 Options To Back Up Derrick Rose
After being in a reserve role with the Miami Heat to begin his career, Cole was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2014-15 season as they made their playoff push. Cole did exactly what he was acquired for, as he helped push the Pelicans to the postseason for the first time in franchise history.
Cole averaged 9.9 points per game to go along with 3.2 assists per game in those games once being acquired. He upped those averages to 10.6 and 3.7 assists this past season, both of which were career highs for the former Cleveland State player.
But, it was a lost season in some regards as he dealt with a number of injuries. Cole battled lower back, knee and ankle injuries during the season, resulting in him appearing in only 45 games. Cole was a durable player before that, playing in at least 75 games of non-lockout seasons.
Cole would also bring playoff experience to the Knicks, as he has already appeared in 64 postseason games his first five seasons in the NBA. He is a two-time champion and would bring some leadership to the roster. He also has experience starting, which is an added bonus for a Knicks team that has had poor luck with health at point guard in recent seasons.
