No. 3: Dwight Howard

After 12 NBA seasons, Dwight Howard continues to search for a home where he fits on the court and in the locker room with his teammates. He appeared in eight consecutive All-Star games in his prime but lost his way in the last two seasons.

Despite running up and down the court as an afterthought with the Houston Rockets, Howard still has a defensive presence on the interior and wants the ball as an offensive threat in the post.

With all the talk about Howard’s back and knee injuries, he managed to suit up for 71 games, averaging 32.1 minutes, 13.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per contest.

Why wouldn’t the Knicks sign a former All-Star player, who can still average a double-double per game? New York would have to pay a higher price for Howard compared to Mahinmi and Noah. Nonetheless, he’s certainly worth the investment as a premier defender and offensive threat in the paint.
