Playing At Madison Square Garden

They do not call Madison Square Garden the World’s Most Famous Arena for nothing. It has been home to countless memorable sporting events and concerts, and is a place every great performer, whether it be an athlete, musician or stand up comic, loves to perform.

The same goes for James, who has an affinity for Madison Square Garden. If the rules allowed for it, James would play all of his games under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden. “If I could have 82 regular-season games in the Garden,” James said to the New York Post, “I would because it’s the Mecca of basketball.” James loves the history of Madison Square Garden, and has provided some of his own during his 13-year career.

This season James became the first person, either a visitor or as a Knick, to register multiple triple-doubles and 50+ point games at the new Madison Square Garden in their career. James nearly triple-doubled in the 50+ point games as well, knocking down a career-high tying seven three-pointers on March 5th, 2008 and missing out by only two rebounds.

He came just one rebound short on February 4th, 2009, joining Jordan as the only visiting player with multiple 50+ point games. He left that game with a triple-double, but a rebound was later taken away in a stat correction.

Imagine James putting up stats like wearing a Knicks jersey instead of doing it against them?
