Position: No. 3 Wide Receiver

Projected Favorite: Quincy Enunwa

Wideout Devin Smith struggled in his rookie season after an early injury slowed his progress. As he attempted to learn his position on the job, the speedy receiver tore his ACL in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans.

The injury will cost Smith a starting role. He’s not expected to take the field in the season-opener on September 11. Mental reps won’t prepare him for a come back in three-wide receiver sets.

Smith’s absence opens the door for wideout Quincy Enunwa’s emergence in his third year. Fellow wide receiver Brandon Marshall compared the 6’2”, 225-pound receiver to Martellus Bennett, per ESPN.com’s Kieran Darcy.

It’s high praise, but Enunwa’s size and speed combination should allow him to seal the No. 3 wideout position on the depth chart. He averaged 14.3 yards per catch in the previous season. Assuming Fitzpatrick returns, he’ll continue to find a trio of big-body receivers downfield.
