Position: No. 2 Cornerback

Projected Favorite: Marcus Williams

Currently, the coaching staff seems satisfied with cornerback Marcus Williams defending on the outside in sub-packages, per Slater. Buster Skrine remains the preferable choice on the perimeter in base defense.

The Jets didn’t exercise cornerback Dee Milliner’s fifth-year option, putting him in a high-pressure scenario to produce on the field.

He’s turned to yoga to improve his body conditioning, per the team’s official website. The 2013 first-round pick has played 21 out of 48 possible games. He’s not expected to become a major contributor and likely sits at No. 4 on the cornerback depth chart.

It’s an overdue ascension for Williams, who impressed within a poor secondary during the 2014 season. Then, he led the team in interceptions (six) and passes defensed (10) during the previous year. He certainly earned his spot on the outside opposite Darrelle Revis. He’ll continue to exceed expectations throughout training camp, preseason and the regular season.
