5. Trevor Plouffe

Coming off a career year in 2015 that saw Plouffe not only play in a career-high 152 games, he also displayed a lot of power as he slugged 22 homers and had 82 runs batted in. A solid defender with a strong arm who can bat anywhere from second to seventh; what seems to be the problem?

The Minnesota Twins are once again in total rebuild mode, which is a bit of a surprise considering they won 83 games last year and battled for first place until late August. Shipping out Plouffe for a trio of lower-level prospects would allow the Twins to move Miguel Sano back to his natural position of third base.

As a matter of fact, the Mets could swing a bit of a blockbuster and also ask for slacking Minnesota native, Joe Mauer, and the inconsistent but mostly effective Ervin Santana. The latter is owed a total of $109 million, so any deal should include nothing more than lower level prospects, or a swap of horrendous contracts, a la the man who began this article, David Wright.
