New York Knicks: 6 Dream Free Agents For Summer 2016
Dwyane Wade
With Afflalo more than likely opting out of his contract and not re-signing with the Knicks, there is an opening at shooting guard. While it is highly unlikely that Dwyane Wade would leave the Miami Heat, he would make a great addition for the Knicks even at 34 years of age.
Wade would bring a wealth of experience and veteran savvy to a Knicks team that is lacking in both areas. He would give them a closer alongside Anthony and a legitimate partner to pair him with. The Knicks have been at their best when there is someone to share the leadership role with Anthony and a legitimate scoring option next to him, and Wade would provide that.
In terms of age, Wade should be nearing the end of his career, but on the court his play says otherwise. The 74 games he played in this season is the most he has played in since the 2010-11 season. The key to him being fresh was the lowered minutes, as he played a career-low 30.5 minutes per game.
He did have his least efficient shooting season of his career at 45.6 percent, but he got it going in the postseason when the team needed him most. Wade saw his minutes increase to 33.8 per game in the postseason, yet he showed no wear and tear averaging 21.4 points as his shooting percentage increased to 46.9 percent overall and 52.2 percent from the three-point line, as he made a three-pointer for the first time since December.
Wade is good friends with Anthony, which has raised some rumors about Anthony potentially asking for a trade to South Beach to join him. But, having the two team up in New York would be something Knicks fans would be happy to see.
