New York Yankees Listed as Trade Destination for Mike Trout
By Nick Ziegler
Mike Trout is one of the best players in baseball, but could the MVP find his way to the New York Yankees in a trade one day?
Recent struggles and injuries for the Los Angeles Angels have left the team in a very difficult position. The Angels have arguably the best player in baseball in Mike Trout, but they don’t have much around him.

After missing the playoffs last season, the Angels are in trouble of missing it for the second straight season in 2016, and they may look to shake things up. In a recent article by Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, he writes about possible trade destination for Mike Trout if the team does decide to move the 24-year-old.
Shockingly, the team that topped his list was the New York Yankees. In his article, this is what he had to say:
"Yankees — Eppler has a history with Brian Cashman, serving as New York’s scouting director and assistant GM. The Yankees also shed the contracts of Carlos Beltran and Mark Teixeira after this season and CC Sabathia and Alex Rodriguez next year. But Cashman doesn’t want to give up his young players, and certainly any package would have to include pitcher Luis Severino, outfielder Aaron Judge, shortstop Jorge Mateo, or reliever Dellin Betances."
The recent years of building through the minors could be beneficial for the Yankees if they were looking to acquire a superstar like Mike Trout, as they have some talented young players at multiple positions.
Luis Severino might be struggling this season, but he is one of the best-starting pitching prospects in baseball. Betances would easily be able to be a closer on most other teams, as the two-time All-Star has dominated as a setup man for the Yankees. Of the four mentioned, Jorge Mateo and Aaron Judge have yet to get their shot in the majors, but both are highly-touted prospects that are going to be ready for the big leagues soon.

The addition of Trout would be massive, to say the least for the Yankees. Besides being one of the best hitters in baseball, Trout would be a marketing dream in New York, and would put some people back in the stands of Yankee Stadium.
A deal to acquire Trout would take an awful lot to get done, but that Yankees have situated themselves with the prospects and the money to pull off a miraculous deal. It will be interesting to see if Carfardo’s theory becomes a reality this summer or anytime in the near future.
