Jeremy Lin

There has been numerous rumors surrounding Jeremy Lin and the Nets being a potential landing spot. Lin is fond of Kenny Atkinson, as the two worked closely together during their time with the Knicks during Linsanity. Lin has a player option and is expected to opt out of it to become an unrestricted free agent instead of playing for $2.2 million with the Charlotte Hornets next season.

While the Hornets could still retain Lin, they have other free agents that may be higher on the priority list, such as Nicolas Batum, to retain than Lin. Lin has a stigma attached to him, but there is no denying what he brings to the court as a basketball player.

Lin rehashed his value this season with the Hornets after a tough couple of seasons with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers.. Lin played in 78 games, starting 13, and averaged 11.7 points, 3.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. He performed even better in the postseason, as he torched the Miami Heat.

Lin helped put a scare into the Heat in the first round of the 2016 NBA Playoffs, as he showed off his quickness and athleticism that people continue to underestimate. He dominated Goran Dragic along with Kemba Walker when faced against him, and averaged 12.4 points per game.

Lin was already in line for a bigger contract thanks to his strong regular season, and his postseason play only improved those chances. After receiving a rather cold market last offseason, Lin should be able to cash in as he enters the prime years of his career and already dealing with multiple roles.

The Nets could have an inside track to signing Lin after bringing on Atkinson as head coach. He is also someone they tried to get last offseason, so the Nets have already shown interest in Lin and should once again.
