New York Islanders vs. Lightning Game 3: Preview, Live Stream, and More
The New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning will be playing Game 3 of their second round series tonight; here is all the information you’ll need to enjoy the game.
After taking Game 1, the New York Islanders got a little dose of reality in Game 2, as the Tampa Lightning came out firing to protect their home ice. As a result, the series is now tied at one game apiece as the series will turn to Brooklyn and the Barclays Center, home of the Islanders.
The second round series has gone very similar for the Islanders as their first round one with the Florida Panthers did, as they took Game 1 before getting beaten rather easily in Game 2. In that series, they also picked up the victory in Game 3 to regain the series lead; will that happen again?
If the series continues the same way it did against the Panthers, then we are in for an exciting Game 3. In Round 1 the Islanders were able to christen the first hockey playoff game at Barclays Center with an overtime victory as the Islanders regained control of the series.

If that is to happen again, they will need continued strong play from Thomas Greiss. Greiss has made people forget that he was the backup most of the season, as he has filled in as well as you could have hoped when Jaroslav Halak went down with an injury. Captain John Tavares talked about how important Greiss is to the Islanders success on a video at ESPN.
It will take more than Greiss for the Islanders to get a victory though, as their offense wasn’t anywhere near as aggressive as the Lightning’s, as the Islanders were out shot in the game 31-20, with only eight shots coming after the first period.
That will not get the job done, as they need to create more scoring opportunities for themselves. They have shown the ability to do it, as they scored five goals in Game 1, chasing Lightning starting goalie Ben Bishop less than halfway through the game.
Will the Islanders be able to repeat that performance and pick up a much needed victory to regain control of the series and take a 2-1 lead? We will have to watch and find out.
