Florida Defensive End Jonathan Bullard

The Giants made a splash in free agency along the defensive line. They re-signed Jason Pierre-Paul, adding his bookend in Olivier Vernon and a run stopper in Damon Harrison to pair with Johnathan Hankins on the inside. While the starting unit is extremely talented, there is not much in the way of depth behind them.

While many people will say defensive line is not a need with the spending spree the Giants went on, it is a sneaky need as there isn’t any reliable depth outside of Kerry Wynn. Because of that, and the need for more pass rushers in Steve Spagnuolo’s scheme, the Giants should be in the market for a defensive lineman.

That makes Jonathan Bullard an option for the Giants. Bullard is a hard worker, as he brings it every player. That kind of motor is what the Giants love from their defensive lineman, as they never give up on a play until the whistle blows. Bullard also provides versatility, as he has experience playing on the inside and outside of the defensive line.

The Giants love versatility in their defensive lineman, as we have seen their NASCAR package with four pass rushers along the defensive line attacking from every angle. Bullard has some durability concerns, as he battled some nagging injuries, but he played in 49 games for Florida, starting 35 of them.

That kind of experience is something the Giants look into, and Bullard was also productive in his time. He had 178 tackles, 33.5 for a loss, and 12 sacks in his career. He saved the best for last, picking up 66 tackles, 17.5 for loss, and 6.5 sacks his senior year.

If Bullard is sitting there when the Giants are on the clock at No.40, it will be difficult for them to pass as he not only provides value at the spot, he fills a need.
