Third-Round: Vadal Alexander

It is not easy to find a four-year starter in the always competitive SEC conference, but Vadal Alexander was able to accomplish that with the LSU Tigers. As a true freshman in 2012, Alexander started at right tackle for the Tigers before making the move inside to guard in his sophomore and junior seasons. For the next two seasons, Alexander would play left guard for LSU before moving back to right tackle for his senior season.

Alexander is a large man at 6’5” and 325lbs, but he has gotten into excellent shape since his freshman season in LSU, as he lost 30lbs since then. The Jets’ offensive line is pretty much set for next season, but depth is never a bad thing to have in the trenches. With Alexander, the Jets will have a player that has proven to be able to play at multiple positions along the line, which could be very valuable.

The recent trade to acquire Ryan Clady was a very good one for the Jets, but he does have an injury history. While Alexander has never played left tackle, it is important to have depth in case something does happen to Clady or one of the other offensive linemen.
