Second-Round: Hunter Henry

The tight end position gave the Jets pretty much zero production last season, as the injury to Jace Amaro exposed a lack of depth at the position. Amaro is still a raw talent at the position himself, as he has a lot of work to do to develop into a complete tight end. A season-ending injury last season was not good for that development, as the Jets need him to improve as a run-blocker.

In the second-round of this year’s draft, the Jets will be selecting tight end Hunter Henry from Arkansas. Unlike Amaro, Henry is coming out of college as a complete tight end in both the passing and running game. Henry has excellent size, as he is 6’5” and 253lbs. Henry also showed some good speed in his pre-draft workouts, as he ran a 4.68 40-yard dash.

In three seasons at Arkansas, Henry totaled 116 receptions, 1,661 receiving yards, and nine receiving touchdowns. While the numbers don’t jump off the page at you, Henry was a very reliable target and was excellent on third-downs.

He may not be the next Rob Gronkowski, but Henry would be a great pick by the Jets in the second-round. Pairing Henry and Amaro together would give defenses fits against the Jets’ offense in 2016.
