The New York Rangers will look to even up their their first round series of the NHL Playoffs with the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight. We have all the info you need before watching the game.

The New York Rangers lost the first playoff game of the season at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1. A defensive miscommunication did the Rangers in, as the Penguins took advantage of two Rangers skating into each other to score the go-ahead 2-1 goal.

The Rangers will now be looking to even things up tonight in Game 4 and tie the series back up at two wins apiece. This is essentially a must win game for the Rangers, as they cannot afford to go down to the Penguins 3-1, meaning they would have to win two more games at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh. The Rangers already have one victory there this series, winning Game 2, but going down 3-1 is not a recipe for success.

It would be a nightmare for the Rangers to go down 3-1, as they have been playing against the Penguins’ backup goalies thus far this series but have not been able to fully take advantage, as they currently trail the series. But, there are some positives for the Rangers to build off of from Game 3 despite the loss, one being Rick Nash.

Nash finally got on the scoring board for the Rangers, putting home a shorthanded goal to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead in Game 3. They will need more offensive punch from Nash if they are to even the series up tonight.

Another positive was the return of defenseman, and captain, Ryan McDonagh. McDonagh was considered doubtful for Game 3, but after a successful practice Monday he was back in the lineup for Game 3. With a game under his belt and some rust knocked off, McDonagh should be getting closer to his normal self as he works his way back from a wrist injury that kept him out over two weeks.

Having their leader back on the ice can only help, as they need all the reinforcements they can get in front of Henrik Lundqvist in what is a must win game. The Rangers and their fans do not want this to be the last game at Madison Square Garden this season, and it will take another strong effort to knock off the Penguins.
