Sasha Vujacic

Sasha Vujacic was signed last offseason as many people thought he would just be a body to help teach the team the triangle offense Phil Jackson loves so much. Instead, Vujacic was a semi-regular part of the Knicks rotation, starting 25 games at shooting guard.

He began the season in the starting five when Afflalo was shelved the first few games of the season, and once again was inserted at the end of the season at Afflalo’s expense. As a starter, Vujacic averaged 7.8 points with 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. It was clear what he was brought in for, but his playing time was a surprise for some people to say the least.

But, when he was not scoring and making baskets, Vujacic was rather useless on the court. The team’s persistence of Vujacic getting minutes became frustrating as those minutes could have been better allocated to younger players. With the affinity that Jackson has for him, there is a chance that Vujacic is once again brought back, but hopefully in a more limited role.
