Lou Amundson

Lou Amundson was a solid contributor for the Knicks during the 2014-15 season when he was acquired in a three-team deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers. He appeared in 41 games, starting 35 of them, as the center for an undermanned Knicks team.

While the stats didn’t pop out at you, Amundson was a hard worker and always brought energy to the court. It resulted in the Knicks bringing Amundson back for $1.65 million, only the third time in his career he played with the same team for consecutive seasons. But, Amundson was not afforded the same opportunities this season as he was last season with an improved roster.

Amundson ended up playing in only 29 games, more often than not being a DNP-Coach’s Decision. He played sparingly even in those 29 games, averaging only seven minutes played with 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

Amundson’s energy and workman like mentality is nice to have at the end of the bench, but he probably should not be in a team’s rotation. There is a good chance that the 33-year old veteran is looking for a new team to play for next season.
