New York Rangers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins: 5 Predictions for First Round
By Nick Ziegler
– Nash surprises us all
By now, we all know about the struggles of Rick Nash in the postseason for the Rangers. Nash was brought in to help push the Rangers over the top in the Eastern Conference but instead has been one of the players that have come up small in the postseason.
In the postseason with the Rangers, Nash has totaled just 29 points in 56 games, as his production hasn’t been close to what we have seen from him during the regular season. The really poor performance for Nash came in 2013-14 season, as in 25 games, he only totaled 10 points, which included just three goals. Rangers’ fans wanted to run him out of town after that postseason, as he was one of the reasons they were unable to defeat the Los Angeles Kings.
This season, Nash has battled through injuries which have affected his performance on the ice, and it has also led to his worst regular season with the Rangers. In 60 games, Nash has totaled just 15 goals, which is a huge drop from the 42 he scored last season. With nobody expecting anything from Nash, this could be the year that he shocks us all with a great postseason, even though nothing this season should indicate that he will.
Prediction: Nash totals six points in the series.
