30.) PG Charlie Ward

After winning the 1993 Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, and Davey O’Brien Award, Charlie Ward became a first-round pick of the Knicks in the 1994 NBA Draft. The same leadership qualities that Ward had as the quarterback for Florida State, he brought to the court for the Knicks.

He was the starting point guard for the Knicks from the mid-late 90’s when they were annually in the Eastern Conference playoffs. He spent the first nine seasons of his NBA career with the Knicks, playing half of his 10th with the team before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs. He finished his career with the Houston Rockets but had his most productive ones with the Knicks.

Ward is fourth in franchise history in three-pointers made and attempted, seventh in assists and fifth in steals. He is also ninth in franchise history in defensive win shares and value over replacement player.

Ward never had gaudy stats for the Knicks, with his highest points and assists per game in a season being 7.8 and 5.7 in the 1997-1998 season, but was always steady leading the team. He averaged only 1.7 turnovers per game on the Knicks, but he was as steady as they come at the point guard spot.
