The New York Knicks destroyed the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night; check out our recap with some highlights and a photo gallery from the win.

The New York Knicks had a rough performance against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. They were never really in the game, as they were unable to make any runs to make the Nuggets nervous about losing their lead. With a quick turnaround and the second night of the back-to-back taking place Wednesday against the Suns, it was fair to think that the Knicks would once again struggle to gain their footing.

More from Empire Writes Back

Whoever thought that turned out to be very wrong. The Knicks looked like a different team against the Suns on Wednesday night compared to Tuesday against the Nuggets, as they ran the Suns out of the gym. The Knicks ended up blowing the Suns out 128-97, as they had a 20 point lead at half time.

The Suns tried to make a game out of it in the third quarter, outscoring the Knicks by seven, but the comeback was shortlived; the Knicks would pour in 40 in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Suns by 18.

It was a tale of two nights for the Knicks starting lineup, as they were unable to get anything going against the Nuggets but came out firing against the Suns. With Arron Afflalo sidelined because of an abdomen injury, head coach Kurt Rambis inserted Sasha Vujacic and he responded with a monster game.

Vujacic would score 23 points in the game, making his first six shot attempts from the three-point line and seven shots overall. He would miss his last shot attempt of the game, but it was easily the best performance that Vujacic has had this season with the Knicks.

Every starter for the Knicks scored in double-figures, as each seemed to have some sort of highlights. Kristaps Porzingis struggled overall, making only 2-of-10 from the field, but managed to score 13 points thanks to solid work at the foul line; he made 8-of-9 from there. He also provided a highlight dunk of his own on while driving to the basket past former Knicks’ center Tyson Chandler.

Carmelo Anthony has played outstanding basketball in the month of March, as his knee doesn’t look to be giving him problems currently. He is averaging 26 points per game in March to go with 8.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.8 steals while playing 37 minutes per game. Despite the season essentially being over, it is nice to see Anthony on the court still playing well.

Tonight against the Suns, Anthony scored an efficient 23, adding seven rebounds and one assist, block and steal in 31 minutes. It was a milestone night for Anthony, who surpassed Clyde Drexler for 29th place on the NBA All-Time points scored list.

While the starters had their way with the Suns, the Knicks bench also got into the act. Derrick Williams, Jerian Grant and Langston Galloway all had strong games. Galloway scored eight points with six rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Grant stuffed the stat sheet, scoring 14 points with three rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Williams was the story off the bench though. In 18 minutes, Williams poured in 18 points. He didn’t add much else, grabbing only one rebound with two assists and one steal, but he provided plenty of highlights throughout the game. Williams had a number of impressive dunks in between all of the jump shots that he was raining down from the field.

This was arguably the most impressive performance that the Knicks had all season offensively. The Suns had no answers for slowing them down, as the Knicks scored from all over the court. They finished the game with a shooting percentage of 56.1 percent, and an insane 66.7 from deep. They were also strong at the foul line once again, making 83.3 percent of their free throws.

The Knicks will look to carry this momentum over into their next game. They will be paying a visit to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night, which is the midpoint of their six-game road trip. Before we head into that game though, enjoy some of the pictures from the Knicks’ blowout victory Wednesday over the Suns.
