The New York Knicks suffered another ugly loss Monday night, and the constant losing seems to be taking a toll on Carmelo Anthony.

The New York Knicks suffered yet another rough loss on Monday night, as the Toronto Raptors blew them out of Madison Square Garden, 122-95. The Knicks trailed by as many as 27 points in the game, as their dwindling playoff hopes took yet another shot.

On the fifth anniversary of his trade to the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony could not have envisioned being in this position. After making the playoffs every year of his career for the first 10 seasons, Anthony is in danger of missing the playoffs for a third consecutive season with the Knicks.

Anthony has made it clear in recent weeks, as rumors popped up that the Knicks may approach him about waiving his no-trade clause, that New York is where he wants to be. He signed a five-year, $124 million contract two summers ago, which signaled that he wants to be in New York. But, he showed some frustration following yet another ugly loss Monday night.

“My mood? Yeah, I need to go home and just relax,” a frustrated but polite Anthony said. “Decompress a little bit.”

Anthony, who normally does not talk to media right after the game as he receives treatment then, was one of the first Knicks ready to talk to the media following the loss to the Raptors. He was not in a good mood after yet another poor showing from the Knicks.

Anthony also admitted that his patience is beginning to wear thin, and that he is being tested to stay strong and positive in his time with the Knicks with the constant turnover on the roster and coaching staff.

When Anthony was told of how many changes he has gone through with the Knicks, he said, “It’s been tough. It’s challenging. It’s challenging to kind of stay strong and positive through all this.” He also added, “You can’t control that. When you look at it, how many different coaches? Four different coaches. [A lot of] different players. I mean, that’s a lot to go through.”

The Knicks are in a rut recently, as they have gone 2-12 in their last 14 games after hitting the .500 mark at 22-22 on January 20th with an overtime victory over the Utah Jazz. Anthony isn’t blaming the coaching staff for the poor play, saying it comes down to the players at the end of the day.

"“We just got to want to do it. We want to get out there and want to play. We [have to] want to compete. I don’t think it’s anything to do with kind of X’s and O’s.“I think we got to take it upon ourselves individually, take the challenge as a group, have each other’s backs out there. We can’t beat nobody giving up [almost] 60 paint points. Impossible.”"

Anthony did his part with 23 points and 11 rebounds, but got little help outside of Kristaps Porzingis and Robin Lopez, who has been on a tear in recent games. It will take more than three players playing well to win a basketball game though, as they were unable to overcome the ineptitude of the backcourt and second unit.

The Knicks will be back at it Wednesday when they travel to take on the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers are a strong team, but if the Knicks are to get back into the playoff race they will have to pull off some upsets and start stringing together some victories.
