This name is an under-the-radar move that can produce big results for the Nets. After being fired from the first-place Cavs, Blatt definitely has a huge chip on his shoulder and will be looking for another NBA coaching opportunity. Blatt was originally hired in Cleveland to mentor and coach a young Cavs team centered around Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, and Andrew Wiggins. Instead, LeBron made the decision to return to Cleveland, and Blatt was left to coach a completely different team than he signed up for. Instead of having the time to coach a young, talent-filled team, Blatt faced tremendous win-now pressure under LeBron & Co. With Tyronn Lue breathing down his neck in attempts to usurp his power, ever since he and Blatt were the two top candidates to replace Mike Brown, Blatt was in a no-win situation.

If Blatt comes to Brooklyn, he will not face the same pressure to win an immediate championship, and will have the time to mold the team into his own. Blatt knows how to coach basketball, as seen by his success in Europe, and would be a great hire for the Nets. There’s no LeBron pressure in Brooklyn, and Blatt would be able to show the world what kind of coach he truly is. Even with all the drama in Cleveland, the team was still in first place when he was fired, so he has proven that he can handle adversity. With a chance to coach a Brooklyn roster with solid talent, he will be in a similar position as he was in Cleveland before LeBron came back. I think the Nets should seriously look into considering Blatt as a realistic coaching candidate to fill their vacancy.
