Brown took over for Hollins on January 10, and has a 4-13 record in the 17 games he coached. This record does not tell the whole story, as the team has responded with much better effort on the floor recently and has been competitive in games under Brown.

Unfortunately, he is not a “big name candidate”, and may not be the long-term solution Prokhorov is looking for. He deserves full credit for making the Nets play with effort again, something they clearly lacked under Hollins, but effort does not always translate to wins. Brown will get the remainder of this season to prove himself, but unless he goes 20 games over .500 the rest of the way, then I don’t see him back as head coach.
